Administrative Pastor: Daniel J. Seehafer Email
Daniel J Seehafer was born in Merrill, Wisconsin. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia University Wisconsin in 1993, and his Master of Divinity Degree from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1997. As part of Concordia’s global education program, he had the opportunity to travel and visit the Holy Land. He also studied in Tallinn, Estonia. His two years of field work were at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Decatur, Indiana. He served his vicarage year at St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth, Wisconsin. Daniel started as Assistant Pastor of St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Horicon, Wisconsin, in August 1997. On October 22, 2000, Pastor Seehafer was installed as the Administrative Pastor.
Associate Pastor: Jonathan Szczesny Email
Jonathan D. Szczesny was born in Buffalo, New York. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the State University of New York, College at Fredonia in 1992, and his Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1997. His two years of field work were at Our Hope Lutheran Church in Huntertown, Indiana. He served his vicarage year at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Terre Haute, Indiana. Upon his graduation from seminary he served as associate pastor of Faith Lutheran Church in Adel, Iowa from 1997-2000. Jonathan accepted the call to serve St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Horicon, Wisconsin as associate pastor in the spring of 2006. On January 7, 2007, Jonathan was installed as associate pastor. Jonathan and his wife, Ya-Fen and children Jonathan II, Anastasia, Lin-Li and Gail live in Horicon.
Joel Bahr Our Principal Email
Joel grew up in Western New York (Buffalo & Niagara Falls) and attended Concordia College in Bronxville, New York. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, he served for 10 years at Immanuel Lutheran Church & School in Mount Vernon, New York, the last 6 of those years as principal. Joel accepted a call to be principal at St. John Lutheran Church & School in South Euclid, Ohio and served there for 15 years. He accepted another call to be principal at St. Mark Lutheran in Kentwood, Michigan and served there for 13 years before starting ministry at St. Stephen (now in his second year). Graduate work has been completed at both Ursuline College in Pepper Pike, Ohio and Concordia University, Wisconsin. Mr. Bahr has served on a number of boards and committees in church and school ministry. Joel and his wife, Donna, have been blessed with four children, and three grandchildren. In his leisure time, Joel enjoys being with family, sports, reading, and biking.

Katy Herrmann K-8 Art Email
Katy Herrmann grew up in Platteville, Wisconsin and went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin Platteville in 2004 with an art education degree K-12. Chad and Katy began their married life in central Illinois where Katy taught K-12 art for three years in the Deland-Weldon School District. After starting a family and deciding to move back home to Wisconsin, Katy began her job as a stay-at-home-mom to her three children: Ella, Abigail, and Sawyer. In 2012, Katy introduced the idea of an art program to St. Stephen and now continues to teach art there part time for grades 4K-8. Painting, reading, camping, and spending time with family are a few of the things she enjoys doing outside of teaching.
Lisa Janus Preschool Email
Lisa was born and raised in Milwaukee. She graduated from Concordia University – Wisconsin in 1986 with a Bachelor Arts degree in Elementary Education, minoring in Early Childhood Education. Over the past 28 years, Lisa has been responsible for the start-up, directing and teach of several early childhood programs in South Wisconsin and English Districts of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. Lisa and her husband, Peter live in Slinger and have been blessed with 2 children, Sarah and Andrew, a son-in-law Wade, and their first grandchild, Arianna. Lisa cherishes time spent with her family, especially at their cottage on Beaver Dam Lake. She enjoys sewing, arts and crafts, and being a part of the Beaverland Must-skis Waterski Show Team.
Stacey Meinders Kindergarten Email
Stacey has taught for a number of years at St. Stephen Lutheran School. Prior to teaching kindergarten, she has taught preschool and 7th grade. “I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to teach with such wonderful colleagues and students.” Stacey graduated from UW Oshkosh with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She also has a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in early childhood. Stacey has 2 children, Madelynn and Lukkas, who attend St. Stephen. In her free time she loves attending Brewer games, reading, running, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Janelle Wenzel First Grade Email
Janelle grew up outside of West Bend, Wisconsin. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Concordia University, Wisconsin in 1992. She taught and was director of Trinity’s Little Lambs Preschool and in the afternoon she taught first and second grade at Zion Lutheran School both in Herscher, Illinois. Her teaching experience spans preschool through Grade 4. In June 2008 she and her children moved back to Wisconsin to join her husband, Mark, who moved back to Wisconsin at the end of January 2008 to serve as Pastor of Peace Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. She and her husband have 3 children, Kaitlyn, Aaron and Makayla. Janelle began teaching at St. Stephen in August of 2008 and teaches 1st Grade. Janelle and her husband, Mark and children Kaitlyn, Aaron and Makayla live in Beaver Dam.
Amy Rupnow Second Grade Email
Amy was born and raised in Crown, Minnesota. She attended Concordia College, Minnesota where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education in 1997. She taught Kindergarten for one year in Duluth, Minnesota before moving to Horicon to teach 2nd Grade at St. Stephen. In 2005 Amy earned her Master’s of Education from Concordia University, Wisconsin. When she is not busy at school Amy enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, crocheting, and working logic puzzles. Amy began teaching at St. Stephen in 1997 and teaches 2nd Grade and 1st and 2nd Grade Social Studies. In addition to teaching Amy is the Student Council Advisor, the school librarian and she is on the Youth Board. Amy and her husband, Keith, live in Oak Grove.
Beth Miskimen Third Grade Email
Beth attended Immanuel Lutheran School in Brookfield, Milwaukee Lutheran High School, and Concordia University-Mequon. After graduating, she taught in California for 3 years and Illinois for 4 years. She has been teaching 3rd grade at St. Stephen since 2004. Her husband, Dave, is the principal at Living Word Lutheran High School in Jackson. They have two children, Riley and Cade. They live with their yellow lab and 2 cats in Iron Ridge.
Breanna Erdman Fourth Grade Email
Breanna became a teacher as she really enjoys working with kids and wants to help them learn and grow. She’s glad she gets to share the Gospel with her students each day. She hopes to continually encourage and challenge her student as they work to develop the gifts and talents that God has given them. She has completed her education at Concordia University Wisconsin, Elementary Education with a minor in math. Breanna grew up in Eagan, MN and currently resides in Horicon.
Rick Holz Seventh and Eight Grade Email
Rick grew up on a dairy farm south of Hustisford, Wisconsn. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Secondary Education, American History and European History from Wisconsin Lutheran College in 1995. Rick has experience teaching mainly fifth through eighth grades in three different Lutheran schools. When not teaching, Rick serves as the varsity girls’ basketball coach at Horicon Junior/Senior High School and in his free time he stays active by golfing, biking and participating in softball and bowling leagues. Rick has been teaching at St. Stephen since August 2006 and teaches 7th and 8th grade. He also teaches 5th through 8th grade math, social studies and English. Rick lives in Horicon.
